Brynen Sosa
Born in Northern New Jersey in 1986, Brynen Sosa has been creating his entire life. Drawn to music like a moth to a flame as early as age 3, his life’s mission was to play the guitar. His eclectic, and often disparate influences were informed by his family and friends. Soon after, he was discovering music on his own volition. There was no line between high brow and low brow according to him. Forming Mythology in 2007 at age 20, his modus operandi was simple: To create a body of work that was vast, complex, and meticulous. But also to have fun while doing so! A self avowed goofball by nature, he injects a healthy dose of humor into the music. Progressive rock can indeed be funny, and also serious when needed. His love for art has expanded over time to include comedy, cinema, acting, writing, drawing, and cooking as part of his skillsets!
“Mythology is my brain child that I started as a young man. It is a vehicle for me to push myself on composing, performing, and producing. It was born out of my affinity for the progressive rock genre, but has evolved to include other influences as well over time. My goal is to make music that appeals to both the brain and the heart. Throughout the years, I think one of the band’s strongest suits is playing complex material that isn’t off-putting or confounding. But perhaps I have crossed that line more than a few times…!”
When not performing, Sosa spends time with his son and wife in the mountains of Northern New Jersey. He has also been a freelance guitar instructor for more than a decade, giving private lessons to all ages and skill levels. “Teaching the greatest instrument on Earth is a joy!”, he opines. His other acts, past and present, include B-Bop & Rocksteady, LaffnaX, Fair Panic, Maggie Mae, Father Divine, as well as a solo catalog under his own moniker. Throughout the years, he has had the honor of opening for artists such as YES, Peter Frampton, Consider The Source, Kung Fu, Project/Object, and the late Rusty Paul. By day, he also works for a company that manufactures industrial machine parts. There, he does Inside Sales and Quality Control. “I just love what I’m doing! If you’re not creating, laughing, and learning new things, you’re not living! And as a man of many interests, why not?!”
